Further investigations into the matter has revealed that the two brothers of the suspect, who are based in the United States of America, had before now refused to return home. They attributed their decision to suspicious behaviour of their brother, who is a devout member of the Guru Maharaj-ji sect.
However, Osigwe disclosed recently that he had survived six assassination attempts on his life, and that it was the powers in his shrine that had kept him alive till today.
It was also gathered that the suspect was one among three others who is contesting for ezeship in Ejemekwuru community after the traditional ruler of the community was buried some months ago. In a swift reaction to the incident, the Council of Traditional Rulers in Imo State through their ChairmanObi Eze Ohiri has demanded that the man (Osigwe) be banished from the state.
He expressed disappointment at the various ills being witnessed in the state, adding that it was high time traditional rulers tackled the ills by applying the culture and tradition of the land. Ohiri said the Igbo tradition and culture abhorred kidnappings, killings, opening of baby factories and other social ills, and that the traditional rulers had risen to put an end to such developments.
