UPDATE- Court Orders NDLEA To Release Baba Suwe By Friday

Nigerian justice system today lived up to its expectation as the hope for common man by ordering National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to release the detained Nollywood star Babatunde Omidina aka Baba Suwe on bail by this Friday if he does not excrete the suspected substance.

Giving her ruling, Justice Yetunde Idowu of an Ikeja High Court said:

“The only thing hindering me from releasing the applicant today is because of the Federal High Court order of 20 October. I don’t want to meddle with that order. But if he (applicant) does not excrete the suspected substance he is accused of harbouring in his stomach by Friday, NDLEA should release him on bail”.

She set the bail on Baba Suwe for N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, and further ordered that his international passport be deposited with the High Court Chief Registrar.

However the actor through his attorney, Bamidele Aturu sued the agency for unlawful detention and asked for N1 billion naira in damages. The agency also insisted that they were very optimistic the star act actually had drugs in his system and requested for more time for him to be able to excrete it.
